Java Edition vs Bedrock PvP
Java PvP
- Attack cooldown system: Each weapon has a recharge bar (sword: 0.6s)
- Sweep damage: Stand still to hit multiple enemies
- Critical hits: Jump + attack for +50% damage
- Meta: Timing attacks at full cooldown; spam-clicking wastes hits
Bedrock PvP
- No attack cooldown — spam clicking wins
- Shield is slightly different timing
- More consistent hit registration
Combat Fundamentals
Critical Hits (Java)
Attack while falling (jump, then swing at peak of fall). Deals +50% damage.
Critical hit combo: Jump → swing at top of arc → land → jump again. Continuous crits.
Shield Usage
- Hold right-click before incoming attack
- Blocks all frontal melee damage and 100% of arrows
- Counter: Use an axe to disable shield (5s cooldown)
Strafing
Move side-to-side constantly. Harder to hit, makes your attacks less predictable.

Enchantments that matter most:
- Protection IV: Biggest damage reduction

Server PvP Tips
- Eat golden apples before fights for absorption hearts
- Potions: Strength II, Speed II, Resistance I before big fights
- Terrain: High ground advantage; fight on your terms
- Bed fights (Bed Wars style): Protect your bed, target others early
