7 Days to Die Weapon Guide — Best Weapons and How to Get Them

Weapon Tiers

All weapons come in quality tiers 1–6. Higher quality = more damage, durability, mods.

Tier Quality Notes
1 Primitive Starting weapons
2–3 Common/Uncommon Early loot
4–5 Rare/Epic Mid-late game
6 Legendary Best stats

Melee Weapons

Stone Axe

  • Damage: Low
  • Craft: Day 1, no workstation
  • Use: Early resource gathering + zombie defense

Baseball Bat / Iron Club

  • Damage: Medium
  • Craft: Workbench
  • Use: Reliable early melee

Machete / Hunting Knife

  • Damage: High (fast attack)
  • Use: Fast kills, good vs single targets

Sledgehammer

  • Damage: Very High
  • Special: Area swing hits multiple zombies
  • Use: Horde defense, slow but devastating

Ranged Weapons

Wooden Bow

  • Ammo: Stone Arrows (craftable)
  • Damage: Low-Medium
  • Use: Silent kills, early game

Hunting Rifle

  • Ammo: 7.62mm
  • Damage: High per shot
  • Use: Long-range, take out ferals safely

AK-47

  • Ammo: 7.62mm
  • Damage: Medium-High, full auto
  • Use: Versatile, excellent horde weapon

Shotgun (Double Barrel or Pump)

  • Ammo: Shotgun Shells
  • Damage: Very high close range
  • Use: Clearing rooms, close defense

Magnum

  • Ammo: .44 Magnum
  • Damage: Very High per shot
  • Use: Boss zombies, sniping heads

Weapon Mods

Upgradeable with crafted or found mods:

Mod Effect
Foregrip Reduces recoil
Scope Increased range
Drum Magazine More ammo capacity
Silencer Quieter shots (less zombie aggro)
Extended Barrel Damage + range

Finding Good Weapons

  • Loot gun stores, warehouses, military checkpoints
  • Trader quests at Tier 3–4 reward quality weapons
  • Craft after reading relevant book series
